Howard Lake, MN (September 5, 2024) – A tragic incident occurred yesterday afternoon when a van struck a pedestrian on HWY 12 at 11th Ave. At around 2:51 p.m., a 2013 Nissan Van, traveling east, collided with 85-year-old Barbara Jean Hoppe as she crossed from north to south.

Hoppe suffered fatal injuries and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. The van’s driver, 46-year-old Jonathan William Edwards, was unharmed. Road conditions were dry at the time of the accident. Local police and emergency services responded to the scene. The investigation into the collision is still ongoing.
