Houston, TX (November 10, 2024) – A tragic wrong-way collision early Sunday morning claimed the life of a woman and left three others injured, including two children. The crash occurred just before 3 a.m. on the Eastex Freeway near Aldine Bender Road, according to the Houston Police Department (HPD).

Authorities reported that the driver of a pickup truck was traveling the wrong way in the northbound lanes when it collided head-on with an SUV traveling in the correct direction. The woman driving the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two children, ages 14 and 6, who were passengers in the pickup truck, were transported to a nearby hospital and are expected to recover. The driver of the pickup truck sustained a broken leg and is also receiving medical care.

HPD officials suspect alcohol may have played a role in the crash, though the incident remains under investigation.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased woman. We also hope for a swift recovery for the injured children and drivers.
