Honolulu, HI (October 4, 2024) – A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred early Thursday morning, resulting in the death of a 51-year-old man. The accident took place around 3:30 AM on North Kuakini Street, where the pedestrian was found lying in the middle of the roadway.
According to the Honolulu Police Department (HPD), the man was struck by an older model white pickup truck. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. Unfortunately, the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene without stopping to provide assistance.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident, and it remains unclear if speed, drugs, or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. Following the accident, North Kuakini Street was temporarily closed between Bachelot Street and Sereno Street, but the roadway has since been reopened.
