Hollywood, FL (January 17, 2025) – A tragic crash on New Year’s Day claimed the life of 28-year-old Jose Parra, a road ranger assisting a driver on I-95. A 45-year-old Florida woman has been arrested in connection with the fatal collision and now faces 20 charges, including vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter, and reckless driving.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a BMW SUV in the southbound express lanes of I-95 when she lost control of the vehicle. Investigators reported that her blood alcohol content was at least twice the legal limit at the time of the crash. The incident triggered a chain reaction, ultimately fatally striking Parra as he was providing aid at the scene of a previous accident.
Two Florida Highway Patrol troopers and another driver involved in the crash sustained minor injuries but were not seriously hurt. The driver responsible for the incident remains in custody as the investigation continues.
We would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased victim.
