Intersection Accidents and Traffic Signals in Michigan
Intersections with high-speed roadways, such as U.S. 31, are frequent sites of serious crashes, particularly when drivers are unsure of signal changes or visibility is limited. Traffic signal malfunctions, driver inattention, and unclear right-of-way situations often contribute to dangerous collisions in Michigan.
According to state traffic safety reports, failure to obey traffic signals is a common cause of accidents at intersections. In some cases, drivers may misinterpret yellow lights, while others might enter an intersection before verifying cross-traffic clearance. When a crash occurs at a high-speed corridor like U.S. 31, the impact can lead to extensive damage and significant injuries.
Motorists are urged to remain aware of their surroundings, approach intersections cautiously, and always confirm traffic signals before proceeding. Defensive driving techniques, such as slowing down in high-risk areas and avoiding distractions, can help reduce the likelihood of severe accidents.
If you or someone you know has been involved in an intersection crash, seeking medical attention and understanding your legal rights is essential.
