Hillsborough County, FL (December 5, 2024) – A 59-year-old man from Palmetto has died following a crash on Interstate 275 in Hillsborough County Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. near Milepost 37, when the man, driving a Toyota Camry southbound in the outside lane, suddenly experienced a medical emergency.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man lost control of his vehicle and veered into the center right lane, colliding with a 73-year-old woman driving a Honda Accord. After the initial collision, the Camry continued forward and struck a barrier wall before coming to a stop.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and transported the Palmetto man to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Thankfully, the woman driving the Honda Accord was not injured in the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident, working to determine the precise cause of the medical episode and its role in the crash.
