Herrick, SD (January 13, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle collision on Saturday afternoon claimed the life of a Fairfax woman in Gregory County. The crash occurred at approximately 2:09 p.m. at 350th Ave and 286th St, nine miles north of Herrick.
Preliminary reports from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicate that a 2001 Ford F-250, driven by a 40-year-old male from Herrick, was traveling northbound on 350th Ave. At the same time, a 2007 Honda CR-V, operated by a 59-year-old female from Fairfax, was traveling southbound on the same road. The vehicles collided at the crest of a hill.
Tragically, the driver of the Honda CR-V sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Ford was uninjured. Neither driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The names of the individuals involved are being withheld pending notification of their families. The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident, with all released information remaining preliminary.
