Heron Lake, MN (January 1, 2025) – A collision involving two vehicles occurred at the intersection of westbound Highway 60 and 10th St in Jackson County, leaving two individuals with non-life-threatening injuries. The accident took place around 12:32 p.m. on Monday.
Emergency responders from Heron Lake Police, Fire, and Ambulance, along with Windom Ambulance and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, quickly arrived on the scene to provide care. According to initial reports, a 2024 Ford Maverick, driven by 57-year-old Tammy Lee Deslauriers of New Ulm, MN, was traveling westbound on Highway 60. A 2015 Honda CR-V, driven by 85-year-old Duane Francis Kirchner of Slayton, MN, was traveling northbound on 10th St when the vehicles collided.
While Ms. Deslauriers reported no injuries, Mr. Kirchner and his passenger, 73-year-old Leatrice Louise Kirchner, both sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Windom Area Hospital for treatment. All parties involved were reportedly wearing seat belts, and airbags deployed in both vehicles. No alcohol was noted to be a factor in the crash.
