Herkimer, NY (October 7, 2024) – A tragic head-on collision occurred early Sunday, October 6, on Route 5, resulting in the death of a Frankfort man. The accident took place when a vehicle driven by 54-year-old Charles Taylor from Herkimer was traveling eastbound on Route 5. Reports indicate that Taylor’s vehicle crossed into the westbound lane, leading to a direct collision with a westbound vehicle operated by 35-year-old Michael Palmer of Frankfort.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. Michael Palmer was transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Charles Taylor was taken to Wynn Hospital in Utica, where he is currently reported to be in stable condition.
