Henrico, VA (September 20, 2024) – Henrico Police are investigating a tragic pedestrian accident that occurred on Wednesday afternoon in the Three Chopt District. At approximately 4:49 p.m. on September 18, police responded to reports of an auto versus pedestrian crash in the 11400 block of W Broad Street.
Upon arrival, officers found an adult female pedestrian suffering from serious injuries. She was promptly transported to a local hospital for medical treatment; however, she sadly succumbed to her injuries the following day.
The victim has been identified as 63-year-old June Eades Heesen, a resident of Henrico. Preliminary investigations suggest that Ms. Heesen was walking across a parking lot when she was struck by a Nissan Altima that was attempting to make a left turn from a parking lot row towards the exit of the shopping center.
The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and is cooperating with law enforcement. According to the Crash Team Investigators, speed, alcohol, and drugs do not appear to be factors in the accident. Charges against the driver are currently pending as the investigation continues.
