Henrico County, VA (December 24, 2024) – Four individuals were hospitalized following a collision that caused an ambulance to overturn in Henrico County on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 12:48 p.m. at the intersection of Brook Rd and Parham Rd. Emergency responders from the Henrico County Police Division and the Henrico County Division of Fire were dispatched to the scene after reports of a crash involving an American Medical Response, Inc. (AMR) ambulance.
Authorities revealed that a sedan struck the ambulance while it was carrying a patient, causing the vehicle to flip. Emergency crews rescued four people from the crash: three from the ambulance, including two medical staff and the patient, and one from the sedan. The ambulance occupants suffered minor injuries, while the driver of the sedan sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Following the crash, the driver of the ambulance was charged with failure to obey a traffic light, according to a police spokesperson. Brook Rd and Parham Rd were temporarily closed as crews worked to clear the scene but reopened by approximately 2:26 p.m. The investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
