Havelock, NC (September 17, 2024) – A tragic multiple car collision occurred on U.S. Highway 70 at approximately 4:58 p.m. on September 16. The Havelock Police Department, along with the fire department and EMS, responded to the scene where four vehicles were involved in the incident.
Initial reports indicate that multiple injuries were sustained during the crash. Unfortunately, one of the drivers, identified as 18-year-old Michael Iorizzo from Havelock, was killed in the accident. According to the investigation, Iorizzo was traveling east on U.S. Highway 70 when he lost control of his vehicle and veered into the westbound lanes. He was subsequently struck by another vehicle traveling in the eastbound lane.
