Fatal Car Accidents in Tennessee
Serious traffic accidents, like the one on Cumberland Gap Pkwy, often result from lane departures, reckless driving, or mechanical failures. Cross-median collisions are particularly dangerous as they frequently lead to head-on crashes, which have a high fatality rate.
According to the Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security, hundreds of fatal crashes occur in the state annually, with excessive speed, impaired driving, and distracted driving among the leading causes. Many victims and their families face emotional distress, financial burdens, and legal challenges following such tragic accidents.
Authorities encourage all motorists to exercise caution when driving at high speeds, particularly on highways and parkways where lane control is crucial. If a crash is caused by negligence or reckless driving, victims and their families may have the legal right to pursue compensation for medical costs, funeral expenses, and other damages.
