Harris Twp, MN (January 29, 2025) – Emergency responders were quick to the scene of a two-vehicle crash that resulted in injuries at the intersection of US Highway 169 and Southwood Rd in Itasca County.

According to reports, the crash occurred at approximately 12:00 p.m. when a 2014 Buick Lacrosse, driven by 95-year-old George Erik Villebro of Hill City, attempted to make a left turn. As the Buick turned, it collided with a 1999 Jeep Cherokee traveling southbound. The impact of the crash caused the Jeep to roll onto its roof.

Emergency responders from Harris Township and Itasca County arrived quickly to provide aid. The driver of the Jeep, 40-year-old Cinthia Lucky Trebil of Grand Rapids, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Grand Itasca Hospital for medical treatment. The driver of the Buick was unharmed.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, and airbags deployed in both vehicles. Authorities confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The roadway was dry at the time of the incident. The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.

Our thoughts are with those affected by this accident, and we wish the injured victim a full recovery.

Car Accidents in Minnesota

Car accidents are an unfortunate reality on Minnesota’s roadways, with thousands of crashes occurring each year due to a variety of factors. Left-turn collisions, like the one reported in Harris Township, are among the most common types of crashes. These incidents often occur at intersections when drivers fail to yield the right of way or misjudge oncoming traffic.

According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, intersection-related crashes contribute to a significant percentage of roadway injuries and fatalities each year. While defensive driving and adherence to traffic signals can help reduce the risk of accidents, unforeseen factors such as driver miscalculations, distraction, or poor visibility can still lead to dangerous outcomes.

Injury victims involved in left-turn crashes may face physical, emotional, and financial hardships. Seeking appropriate medical attention and understanding legal rights are crucial steps following an accident. Consulting with professionals can provide guidance on available resources and compensation options.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a car accident, it is important to seek support and understand your rights. For more information or to receive help after an accident, contact Local Accident Reports.
