Harris County, TX (January 11, 2025) – A tragic accident occurred Friday night in the Cinco Ranch area of Harris County, where a man fatally struck his wife while backing out of his driveway. The incident happened around 10 p.m. on Autumn Mist Court, near South Mason Rd and South Fry Rd.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), Kevin Paul Ivey was reversing his vehicle at an unsafe speed when the car lost traction. Authorities stated that Kevin Ivey was aware his wife, Brenda Ivey, was outside the vehicle at the time. Brenda Ivey was reportedly attempting to get into the car when she was struck. The vehicle continued in reverse, ultimately hitting a tree and coming to rest on top of Brenda Ivey.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Brenda Ivey was pronounced dead. Investigators determined that Kevin Ivey was under the influence at the time of the incident. He was arrested and charged with intoxication and manslaughter.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office, represented by Sean Teare, confirmed their involvement in the case. An investigation is ongoing to gather additional details about the events leading up to the accident.
