Hannibal, MO (December 17, 2024) – Emergency responders were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash Monday morning on Veterans Rd, approximately half a mile west of Hannibal. The accident occurred at 7:46 a.m. and involved four vehicles, resulting in multiple injuries.
According to the report, a 2020 Kia Optima, driven by a 29-year-old female from Hannibal, failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado heading northbound. The impact caused the Chevrolet Silverado to strike a 2019 Toyota Highlander, which then collided with a 2020 Ford F-150.
The driver of the Kia Optima sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Marion County Ambulance to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. The driver of the Toyota Highlander, a 66-year-old female from Hannibal, also suffered moderate injuries and was transported by a private party to Hannibal Regional Hospital. The drivers of the Chevrolet Silverado and Ford F-150 were not injured, though their vehicles sustained minor to extensive damage, respectively.
Authorities, including the Hannibal Police Department, Hannibal Fire Department, and Hannibal Rural Fire Department, responded to the scene, with additional assistance from MSGT Duppong and MSGT Koch.
The crash is currently under investigation, and the driver of the Kia Optima has been cited for failure to yield at a stop sign.
