Habersham County, GA (January 15, 2025) – An 80-year-old Gainesville woman is recovering from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash involving a commercial vehicle in Habersham County on Tuesday morning. The collision occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. at the intersection of Wilbanks Rd and State Route 365 (SR-365) northbound in Baldwin.
According to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Peggy Jackson, driving a 2014 Honda CR-V, was struck by a commercial rollback truck operated by Kevin Boswell, 36, of Temple. The incident happened as Jackson turned from Wilbanks Rd onto SR-365 northbound, entering the left lane directly in the path of Boswell’s truck. Boswell, driving for Entrekin Incorporated of Douglasville, stated that he was unable to avoid the collision.
The impact sent Jackson’s vehicle into the median. She reported to investigators that she did not see the commercial vehicle before attempting her turn. Jackson was transported by Habersham County Emergency Services to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment of her injuries, which were not disclosed. She has since been cited for the crash. Boswell was unharmed in the incident.
Our thoughts are with Ms. Jackson, and we hope for her complete recovery.
Commercial Vehicle Accidents in Georgia
Georgia’s roadways, particularly major routes like SR-365, frequently experience accidents involving commercial vehicles due to the high volume of traffic and the challenges of merging at busy intersections. Collisions involving commercial trucks often lead to severe injuries, given the size and weight of these vehicles compared to passenger cars.
The Georgia Department of Transportation highlights that left-turn collisions at busy intersections are a common cause of accidents. These incidents are often attributed to misjudgments in timing, failure to yield, or limited visibility.
For those injured in crashes involving commercial vehicles, the aftermath can be daunting. Victims may face medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, and challenges navigating insurance claims. Consulting with legal professionals experienced in commercial vehicle accidents can help victims secure fair compensation and ensure their rights are protected.
