Haakon County, SD – One Killed, One Injured in Semi-Truck Collision on SD Highway 34

Haakon County, SD (September 19, 2024) – A Florida man died in a two-vehicle crash involving two semi-trucks early Wednesday morning, September 18, on SD Highway 34, northwest of Philip. The crash occurred at 12:46 a.m. near mile marker 128.

A 1996 Freightliner, driven by a 25-year-old male, collided with the back of a parked 2001 Freightliner. The 25-year-old driver sustained fatal injuries, while the driver of the 2001 Freightliner, a 59-year-old male, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger, who was outside the parked vehicle at the time, was unharmed.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
