Gwinnett County, GA (February 11, 2025) – A pedestrian was fatally injured after being struck by a Gwinnett County Police vehicle early Monday morning near the intersection of Beaver Ruin Rd and Shackleford Rd in the Norcross area. The accident occurred around 1:00 a.m., prompting a swift response from the Gwinnett County Police Accident Investigation Unit and the Georgia State Patrol.
According to officials, a Gwinnett County officer had exited I-85 and was traveling near a Racetrac gas station when a pedestrian crossed in front of the patrol car in an undesignated crosswalk area. The officer immediately recognized that a collision had occurred, promptly notified dispatch, and exited the vehicle to render aid to the pedestrian while waiting for paramedics to arrive.
Despite the officer’s efforts and the arrival of emergency responders, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries while being transported to a local hospital. The identity of the pedestrian has not been released as authorities work to notify the victim’s family.
