Grimes, IA (September 1, 2024) – A head-on collision on HWY 48 at 550th St on Saturday, August 31, resulted in injuries to three individuals, including a child. Dustin Lee Jones, 26, veered into the opposing lane, striking Mark Allyn Liddell, 59. Both drivers, along with a 4-year-old boy, sustained injuries.

Jones and the child were transported to UNMC, while Liddell was initially taken to MCMH before being moved to UNMC. Seatbelts are credited with saving lives in two of the injuries. The vehicles involved were extensively damaged and required towing.

Authorities, led by Trooper Brinker, continue to probe the cause of the mishap. Updates will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
