Greenville County, SC (December 13, 2024) – One person died in a head-on crash involving a school bus, tow truck, and SUV in Greenville County on Friday morning. The collision occurred just after 8:00 AM on Geer Highway, near the Ingles Grocery Store.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the tow truck was stopped in traffic in the eastbound lane when the SUV, traveling westbound, collided with it. The school bus, traveling behind the tow truck, struck the tow truck from behind, causing it to veer into the westbound lane where it hit the SUV head-on.
The driver of the SUV, a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the victim has not been released at this time. The driver of the tow truck sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital. Additionally, the driver of the school bus was injured and taken to the hospital. Fortunately, no students were seriously injured. Four students from Travelers Rest High School were aboard the bus, but all were unharmed.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and authorities are working to gather additional details.
