Greene County, MO (December 15, 2024) – A two-vehicle collision on MO-266, two miles west of Springfield, left three individuals injured on Saturday evening. The crash, reported at approximately 5:35 p.m., involved a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe and a 2011 Kia Rio.
According to TPR R.G. Watkins of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when the Chevrolet Tahoe, traveling south, failed to stop at the intersection and came to a stop in the path of the westbound Kia Rio. The Kia collided with the Tahoe, causing both vehicles to veer off the roadway. Both vehicles sustained total damage and were towed from the scene by Henry’s Towing.
The driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe, a 26-year-old man from Willow Springs, MO, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Cox South by private vehicle. A 50-year-old male passenger in the Tahoe, from Cabool, MO, sustained moderate injuries and was also transported to Cox South by private vehicle. A 9-year-old boy in the Kia Rio was treated for minor injuries at the scene, while the driver of the Kia, a 38-year-old woman from Willard, MO, was not reported injured. All individuals involved were wearing safety devices at the time of the crash.
Traffic on MO-266 was temporarily impacted as responders worked to clear the scene and ensure the safety of all involved. The incident remains under investigation.
