Greene County, MO (February 28, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash south of Willard left one person injured on Thursday afternoon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:50 p.m. on Route AB, about half a mile south of Willard. Authorities reported that a 2012 Toyota Highlander, driven by a 35-year-old man from Springfield, was attempting to make a left-hand turn when it was rear-ended by a 2001 Mack cement truck traveling in the same direction.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene and assessed the driver of the Toyota Highlander, who sustained injuries. He was later transported by a private vehicle to Mercy Aurora for further evaluation. The 55-year-old driver of the cement truck, also from Springfield, was not reported to have been injured.
Despite moderate damage to the Toyota, both vehicles remained operational and were driven away from the scene following the investigation. Authorities continue to look into the factors contributing to the crash.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim, and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.
Rear-End Collisions in Missouri
Rear-end collisions are among the most common types of accidents on Missouri roads. These crashes frequently occur when drivers fail to maintain a safe following distance, especially near intersections or when another vehicle is slowing down to make a turn. In this case, a large cement truck struck a smaller passenger vehicle, which could have resulted in more severe injuries.
Missouri law requires drivers to keep a safe distance behind other vehicles and to remain alert to changes in traffic patterns. Large commercial vehicles, such as cement trucks, require more stopping distance than passenger cars, making it even more critical for their drivers to stay vigilant.
While this crash resulted in only minor injuries, rear-end accidents can often lead to whiplash, back injuries, and long-term pain. Those injured in rear-end collisions may have legal options to seek compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages.
If you or a loved one has been injured in a rear-end collision, seeking guidance from a professional can help protect your rights. Local Accident Reports is committed to helping accident victims connect with the support and resources they need after a crash.
