Grant Park, IL (December 24, 2024) – A tragic collision involving two semi-trucks occurred on Christmas Eve morning, resulting in one fatality and serious injuries to a juvenile, according to Illinois State Police. The crash took place at approximately 7:06 a.m. on IL-Route 17 at Bull Creek Rd, just east of Grant Park.
Authorities reported that one of the semi drivers lost control of the vehicle and collided head-on with another semi-truck. The driver of the out-of-control semi tragically died at the scene. A juvenile passenger was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The condition of the second semi-truck driver has not been disclosed.
As of 10:22 a.m., all lanes of IL-Route 17 remained closed as police continued their investigation into the cause of the collision. Emergency crews worked to clear the scene and ensure public safety.
