Golden, CO (November 8, 2024) – The City of Golden is mourning the tragic loss of Officer Evan Dunn, who was killed in a suspected DUI crash on Wednesday night. Dunn, 33, was a dedicated member of the Golden Police Department and a decorated Army National Guard Captain.
Dunn’s law enforcement career began as a Code Enforcement Officer before he graduated from the police academy in July and partnered with his field training officer, Bethany Grusing. Grusing, a member of the department since 2020, also sustained serious injuries in the crash and is recovering.
Dunn previously served as an Army Aviation Officer and Blackhawk pilot, showcasing his dedication to service and leadership. Golden Police Chief Joe Harvey shared heartfelt remarks, saying, “Evan had a bright future and was destined to do great things. We can only continue doing the job he loved in his honor.”
Officer Dunn is survived by his wife, Annalise; their dog, Remy; and his parents and siblings. The community is rallying to support the family and honor his legacy.
