Glades County, FL (January 22, 2025) – A tragic three-vehicle collision on State Road 78, approximately six miles west of U.S. Highway 27, claimed the lives of two individuals on Tuesday afternoon. The crash occurred at approximately 1:08 p.m. and involved a sedan, a van, and a truck.
According to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a 35-year-old woman from Apopka was driving a sedan eastbound on State Road 78 when she veered into the westbound lane, colliding head-on with a truck driven by a 45-year-old Miami man. The impact caused the truck to spin into the path of a van traveling eastbound, resulting in a secondary collision.
Both the driver of the sedan and the driver of the van, a 61-year-old man from Tennessee, were pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The names of the individuals involved have not yet been released.
FHP has confirmed that the crash remains under investigation as they work to determine the factors contributing to this devastating incident.
