Georgetown, DE (March 5, 2025) – A serious head-on collision occurred Wednesday night on Seashore Hwy in Georgetown, resulting in multiple critical injuries and entrapment. Emergency responders declared the incident a Level 1 Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) due to the severity of the crash.
The accident was reported at approximately 8:33 p.m. at 14150 Seashore Hwy. First responders, including Georgetown EMS and multiple surrounding ambulance crews, arrived to find two vehicles with occupants trapped inside. Rescue teams worked to extricate the victims, successfully completing extrication efforts by 8:58 p.m.
Authorities confirmed that at least two individuals sustained critical injuries. LifeNet was initially dispatched but had to abort the mission due to a mechanical issue. Trooper 2 airlifted at least one patient to Christiana Hospital for advanced medical treatment. Several other injured individuals were transported by ground ambulances.
Seashore Hwy remained closed for an extended period while crews worked at the scene. Officials have not yet released details on the cause of the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
