Garretson, SD (November 15, 2024) – An 81-year-old man from Jasper, MN, tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle crash Thursday night near Garretson, SD. The crash occurred shortly after 6:15 p.m. on November 14 at the intersection of 250th Street and South Dakota Highway 11. The man was a passenger in a 2020 Buick Encore that collided with another vehicle.
According to the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred in dense fog, which contributed to the visibility challenges in the area. The male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 71-year-old female driver of the Buick and a 33-year-old male driver of the second vehicle sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. All individuals involved in the crash were wearing seat belts.
