Gainesville, FL (January 7, 2025) – A tragic crash involving a car and a motorcycle claimed the lives of three individuals Monday morning on Newberry Road west of Gainesville. The accident occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m., according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
Officials reported that a car driven by a 59-year-old Gainesville woman entered State Road 26 (Newberry Road) from NW 109th Drive when it was struck by a motorcycle operated by a 31-year-old man from Archer. The collision resulted in catastrophic damage, leaving the motorcycle on its side and the car overturned at the scene.
All three individuals involved in the crash lost their lives, including the motorcyclist, the car’s driver, and her passenger, a 90-year-old Gainesville woman.
Emergency crews from Alachua County Fire Rescue, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, and the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene. Westbound Newberry Road was closed between NW 98th Street and NW 122nd Street, while eastbound lanes were shut down from NW 122nd Street to NW 107th Terrace for more than five hours as authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the wreckage.
