Pedestrian Fatalities in Illinois
Pedestrian accidents remain a significant concern across Illinois, especially on highways and rural roadways where visibility may be limited at night. Many pedestrian fatalities occur due to factors such as poor lighting, driver inattention, or pedestrians crossing outside of designated crosswalks.
According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, hundreds of pedestrian fatalities occur statewide each year, with a large portion of these incidents happening after dark. High-speed roadways, such as Illinois 13, can be particularly dangerous for pedestrians, as drivers may have limited reaction time to unexpected obstacles in the roadway.
For families affected by pedestrian accidents, seeking legal guidance can be crucial in understanding their rights and available options. Compensation for medical expenses, funeral costs, and other damages may be available in certain cases, depending on the circumstances surrounding the crash.
If you or someone you know has been affected by a pedestrian accident, reach out to Local Accident Reports for assistance and guidance on the next steps to take.
