Pedestrian Accidents in Maryland
Pedestrian accidents, such as the one reported on W Patrick St in Frederick, are a growing concern in Maryland, particularly in busy commercial areas. According to the Maryland Department of Transportation, pedestrian-related crashes have been increasing, with many resulting in serious injuries or fatalities.
Common causes of pedestrian accidents include distracted driving, failure to yield at crosswalks, speeding in pedestrian-heavy zones, and poor visibility. Even at low speeds, vehicles can cause significant harm to pedestrians due to the lack of protective barriers.
Pedestrians are encouraged to use crosswalks, remain alert when crossing busy streets, and wear visible clothing, especially in low-light conditions. Likewise, drivers must remain vigilant in areas with high foot traffic, adhere to speed limits, and always yield to pedestrians at crosswalks.
For individuals injured in pedestrian accidents, seeking immediate medical attention is crucial, even if injuries are not immediately apparent. Legal professionals can assist in navigating insurance claims and securing compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other related damages.
