Franklinton, LA (September 6, 2024) – A severe two-vehicle collision occurred Thursday, September 5 on LA Hwy 25 near Cypress Road, resulting in one fatality and serious injuries. The incident, reported around 8:30 p.m., involved a northbound 2015 Kia Forte and a southbound 2020 Ford Taurus. Authorities identified the deceased as Teresa Brown-Garcia, 51, from Jayess, Mississippi.

The crash unfolded as Brown-Garcia’s Kia veered off the road, struck a guardrail, then crossed into the opposing lane, colliding head-on with the Ford. Brown-Garcia, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. The other driver, who was restrained, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital.

Louisiana State Police are conducting a full investigation, including toxicology tests, to determine the cause of this tragic event.
