Franklin, MO (September 27, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on September 26, 2024, at approximately 9:00 PM at the intersection of Hwy B and County Road 304. The incident involved a collision between a Chevrolet Colorado and a Union Pacific train, resulting in a fatality.
According to the investigation, a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado, driven by 51-year-old Edward D. Ocheskey from Washington, was traveling northbound on Route B. Reports indicate that the driver took a left turn onto the train tracks and became stuck. At that moment, a Union Pacific 2014 GM SD70AH train, operated by 49-year-old Velroy Ruch from Omaha, was traveling westbound and struck the rear of the Chevrolet. The impact was significant, leaving the Chevrolet Colorado totaled while the train sustained minor damage.
Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene, but unfortunately, Edward Ocheskey was pronounced dead at the scene by Hermann EMS personnel at 9:47 PM. His body was subsequently taken to the St. Louis County Morgue by Superior Mortuary Services.
