Franklin, IL (October 5, 2024) – A tragic two-vehicle crash occurred on Thursday afternoon that resulted in the death of a Franklin woman. Morgan County deputies responded to the scene at approximately 4 p.m. on Illinois Route 104 near Rees Station Road, where a head-on collision took place between a car and a pickup truck.
The driver of the car, identified as Chelsie Sonneborn, 32, of Franklin, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Morgan County Coroner Marcy Patterson. The coroner’s office, along with the Illinois State Police, is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Emergency responders from multiple agencies were dispatched to the scene, including LifeStar Ambulance, Franklin Fire Department, Alexander Fire Department, Waverly Police, Waverly EMS, South Jacksonville Fire Department, and the Illinois Department of Transportation.
