Franklin County, MO (October 12, 2024) – A serious motor vehicle accident occurred on US 50 at approximately 3:00 PM on October 11, 2024. The incident was investigated by TPR. E. Talleur from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
According to the crash report, the accident involved two vehicles: a 2006 GMC Sierra and a 2019 Peterbilt 567. Preliminary findings indicate that the driver of the GMC Sierra, a 16-year-old male juvenile from Washington, MO, failed to negotiate a curve on Old Highway 50 West, causing the vehicle to run off the roadway to the right. The driver lost control and crossed US 50 traveling south, resulting in a collision with the eastbound Peterbilt.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and provided immediate medical assistance. The juvenile driver of the GMC Sierra sustained serious injuries and was transported to Mercy St. Louis Hospital by Union Ambulance District. The driver of the Peterbilt, 41-year-old Steven C. Brueggenjohann from Marthasville, MO, was reported to have used a safety device and was unharmed in the crash.
Both vehicles were deemed total losses and were towed from the scene by Patriots Towing.
