Franklin County, MO (January 19, 2025) – A tragic hit-and-run collision occurred Saturday evening on Missouri 100 at Interstate 44, claiming the life of a 45-year-old man. The crash was reported at approximately 5:54 p.m. and was investigated by MSGT. L. J. Keathley and Crash Team 2, including TPR A. T. Borgic, with assistance from Franklin County deputies.
The incident involved a 1990 Yamaha dirt bike and an unidentified white SUV. According to the investigation, the dirt bike, which was not equipped with lights, was traveling westbound on Missouri 100 when the white SUV, traveling eastbound, attempted a left turn to enter westbound Interstate 44. The SUV struck the dirt bike, causing it to travel off the right side of the roadway and collide with a bridge rail. The rider was ejected from the dirt bike and fell onto the lanes of westbound Interstate 44 below.
The dirt bike’s rider, a 45-year-old male from Pacific, MO, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Meramec EMS personnel at 6:10 p.m. His body was transported to the St. Louis County Morgue. The white SUV fled the scene, and efforts to identify the driver are ongoing.
