Franklin County, MO (March 4, 2025) – An elderly driver sustained injuries following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of MO-100 and MO-OO in Franklin County on Monday morning.

Missouri State Highway Patrol officials reported that the accident took place at approximately 10:25 a.m. when an 85-year-old man from Wildwood, Missouri, was driving a 2008 Toyota Highlander southbound. As he entered the intersection, he failed to yield to an eastbound 2015 Ford Escape driven by a 33-year-old woman from Union, Missouri. The front of the Ford Escape collided with the rear right side of the Toyota Highlander, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

Emergency responders from Meramec Ambulance arrived at the scene to provide medical assistance. The elderly driver suffered injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital Washington for further treatment. The driver of the Ford Escape was reportedly unharmed.

Authorities secured the Toyota Highlander roadside, while the heavily damaged Ford Escape was towed by Big Boys Towing. The accident remains under investigation.

Our thoughts are with the injured driver, and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Intersection Accidents in Missouri

Intersections are among the most dangerous areas for drivers, often leading to serious crashes when right-of-way rules are not followed. Failure-to-yield accidents, like the one at MO-100 and MO-OO, are a common cause of collisions, particularly among elderly drivers who may experience slower reaction times or reduced visibility.

Missouri law requires all drivers to yield when necessary to prevent accidents at intersections. However, right-of-way violations continue to be a leading cause of roadway injuries and fatalities. Defensive driving, cautious decision-making, and maintaining awareness of other vehicles can help reduce these types of incidents.

This crash serves as an important reminder for all drivers—especially older motorists—to approach intersections carefully, ensuring they have a clear and safe path before proceeding.

If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident caused by another driver’s failure to yield, understanding your rights is essential. Seeking medical attention, documenting the crash, and speaking with professionals can provide guidance on your next steps.
