Fort Wayne, IN (January 27, 2025) – A serious head-on collision northwest of downtown Fort Wayne on Sunday night left one person in life-threatening condition. The crash occurred at approximately 8:35 p.m. at the intersection of Hillegas Rd and Stalf Ct.
According to the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD), a red passenger vehicle traveling northbound on Hillegas Rd was reportedly driving recklessly, weaving in and out of traffic. The driver swerved into the opposite lane and struck a silver passenger vehicle that was making a right turn to head southbound. The collision resulted in significant damage to both vehicles.
The driver of the red vehicle, a woman, sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a local hospital for emergency care. The driver of the silver vehicle was reported to be in fair condition and is also receiving medical treatment. Authorities have not yet determined if speed or alcohol were contributing factors to the crash.
Hillegas Rd was temporarily closed between Coliseum Blvd and Stalf Ct while emergency crews attended to the scene and investigators worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision. The FWPD’s Fatal Accident Crash Team and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office are leading the investigation.
