Fort Myers, FL (November 12, 2024) – A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in a collision with a vehicle at the intersection of S Tamiami Trail (US-41) and Briarcliff Rd on Monday afternoon. The crash, which occurred at approximately 3:43 p.m., prompted an extensive emergency response.
Crews from San Carlos Park Fire, South Trail Fire, Iona McGregor Fire, and Lee County EMS worked together to free the motorcyclist, a 73-year-old man, who was pinned beneath the vehicle for about ten minutes. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was declared a “Trauma Alert” and transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center for emergency care.
No other injuries were reported from the incident. Southbound lanes of US-41 were temporarily blocked as emergency responders managed the scene, but the roadway has since been cleared and reopened. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash.
