Fort Mohave, AZ (December 24, 2024) – A tragic multi-vehicle crash on Monday afternoon resulted in the death of a motorcyclist in the 5300 block of Highway 95. The incident occurred around 1:15 p.m. and involved a motorcycle, a Ford Flex, and a third vehicle, according to officials.
The motorcyclist, whose identity has not yet been released, was flown to a trauma center in Las Vegas but was pronounced dead on arrival. Fort Mojave Mesa Fire Marshal John Clark stated that the motorcycle collided with a Ford Flex, splitting into several pieces upon impact. The gas tank of the motorcycle was lodged beneath the Ford, causing the vehicle to catch fire. Despite the severity of the situation, the Ford’s driver was unharmed and released at the scene.
Scanner reports suggest that the motorcycle was sideswiped by a third vehicle, a white Chevy 1500, which fled the scene but was later located by deputies. Officials confirmed that the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) are investigating the crash. Details about the circumstances leading up to the collision, including reports that the motorcycle failed to yield at El Rodeo and Highway 95, are under review.
Both northbound lanes of Highway 95 were closed, with traffic diverted onto Wagon Wheel, while southbound traffic was reduced to one lane. Arizona Department of Transportation emergency crews also assisted at the scene. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time.
Motorcycle Accidents in Arizona
Arizona’s highways are a common site for motorcycle accidents, with incidents often resulting in severe or fatal injuries due to the exposed nature of motorcyclists. In 2023, more than 2,800 motorcycle crashes were reported statewide, many involving multiple vehicles. Highway 95, a critical route in the Fort Mohave area, sees a high volume of traffic, which can increase the risk of collisions.
Frequent causes of motorcycle crashes include failure to yield, distracted driving, and unsafe lane changes. Multi-vehicle collisions, like the one on Highway 95, often have devastating consequences and emphasize the importance of vigilance for all road users.
For those impacted by motorcycle accidents, seeking medical care, documenting the scene, and consulting professionals can help address legal and insurance challenges that often arise in the aftermath of such incidents.
