Forsyth Township, MI (January 18, 2025) – A devastating two-vehicle, head-on collision on M-35 near Little Lake left two adults dead and three teenagers injured on Friday afternoon. The crash occurred around 3:54 p.m. near the intersection of M-35 and Froney Dr.
According to the Forsyth Township Police Department, both drivers, a 21-year-old man from Negaunee and a 37-year-old man from Gwinn, were pronounced dead at the scene. Police revealed that the Gwinn man was a member of the Forsyth Township Fire Department.
Three teenagers, aged 14 to 15 and traveling in the eastbound vehicle, sustained significant injuries in the collision. The superintendent of Gwinn Area Community Schools confirmed that the injured teens are freshman students at Gwinn High School. The victims were initially transported to UP Health System – Marquette for treatment. Subsequently, two of the juveniles were airlifted to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As of 9:00 p.m. Friday, all three teens were reported to be in stable condition.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Authorities have refrained from releasing the names of the deceased drivers to ensure all family members are notified. Emergency crews from multiple agencies were on the scene to provide assistance and manage the aftermath of the crash.
