Florence County, SC (September 17, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Monday at approximately 3 PM on Carmon Short Cut Road, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. According to Lance Cpl. Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the collision involved a pedestrian and a 2001 Ford Explorer, both traveling east on Carmon Short Cut Road near the intersection with Jordan Church Road.
The pedestrian was struck by the SUV and unfortunately died at the scene of the accident. The Florence County Coroner’s Office has not yet publicly identified the victim. The driver of the SUV was the sole occupant of the vehicle and reported no injuries from the crash. Additionally, no other injuries were reported in connection with this incident.
At this time, it is unclear whether the driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. Details regarding the cause of the crash remain unavailable, as the South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.
