Fleming Island, FL (November 4, 2024) – A serious single-vehicle crash occurred early Sunday morning, injuring three teenagers in Clay County. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the incident took place around 3:18 a.m. when a gray 2004 Chevrolet Suburban was negotiating a curve on Harbor Lake Drive.
Preliminary reports indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn. The SUV ultimately came to rest on its driver’s side, south of South Brook Drive. The crash resulted in critical injuries for two passengers: a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, both from Fleming Island. The driver, an 18-year-old man from Jacksonville, sustained minor injuries.
All three occupants were transported to HCA Orange Park Hospital for medical treatment. Notably, the FHP reported that none of the individuals were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, which may have contributed to the severity of the injuries.
