Flagler County, FL (January 8, 2025) – A Palm Coast firefighter was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon while responding to a crash involving a vehicle and a motorized scooter at the intersection of Seminole Woods Parkway and Sesame Drive.

The Palm Coast Fire Department reported that the incident occurred around 4:57 p.m. while first responders were managing traffic at the crash site. While directing traffic away from the scene, the firefighter was struck by a car, suffering severe injuries. Officials confirmed the firefighter was declared a trauma alert due to a loss of consciousness.

Emergency personnel quickly airlifted the injured firefighter to Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach via Flagler County Fire Rescue Fireflight. As of the latest update, the firefighter is in critical but stable condition.

The department has announced a press conference scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Palm Coast Fire Station 25 to address the incident and provide additional details.

Traffic Safety for Emergency Responders

Traffic incidents at active crash sites pose significant dangers to emergency personnel. First responders like firefighters and paramedics often face heightened risks while managing traffic or aiding victims, particularly on busy roads.

Motorists are reminded to follow Florida’s “Move Over” law, which requires drivers to move over or slow down for stopped emergency vehicles. This simple action can prevent injuries and ensure the safety of those working to save lives at accident scenes.

If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident, seeking immediate medical attention and consulting legal professionals is essential. Understanding your rights can help secure the necessary support during recovery.
