Flagler County, FL (September 17, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Monday afternoon, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old boy riding a motorized bicycle. The incident took place around 4:18 PM at the intersection of Belle Terre Parkway and Pine Grove Drive in the Palm Coast area.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the dump truck involved in the crash was driven by a 51-year-old man from Pierson. At the time of the incident, the dump truck was stopped at a stop sign on Pine Grove Drive, which is located east of Belle Terre Parkway. The young boy was riding his motorized bicycle south on the east sidewalk of Belle Terre Parkway, just north of Pine Grove Drive.
As the dump truck accelerated from the stop sign, it collided with the boy on the bicycle. Reports indicate that following the collision, the truck dragged both the boy and the bike onto Belle Terre Parkway. The driver of the dump truck subsequently stopped his vehicle in the median of Belle Terre Parkway, north of Pine Grove Drive.
At this time, authorities have not disclosed whether the boy succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident or later at the hospital. This incident has left the community in shock, as the loss of a young life is always a profound tragedy.
