Fidelity, MO (December 25, 2024) – A fatal three-vehicle crash occurred Tuesday afternoon on Highway 59 in Fidelity, Jasper County, claiming the life of one individual and leaving another seriously injured. The Missouri State Highway Patrol Major Crash Investigation Unit and local law enforcement responded to the scene at approximately 2:50 PM.
According to the report, a 2005 Hummer H2 attempted to pass another vehicle while traveling northbound and collided head-on with a southbound 2014 Kia Soul. A 2002 Ford Explorer traveling southbound was also damaged while trying to avoid the crash.
The driver of the Kia Soul, a 37-year-old male from Sarcoxie, MO, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Jasper County Coroner James Harrison at 3:02 PM. His body was transported to the Jasper County Coroner’s Office.
The driver of the Hummer H2, a 43-year-old female from Grove, OK, suffered serious injuries and was transported by Mercy Ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO, for treatment. The driver of the Ford Explorer, a 37-year-old female from Diamond, MO, was reportedly unharmed.
All vehicles involved sustained total damage and were towed from the scene by M and M Wrecker of Carthage, MO. The crash marks the 113th traffic fatality in Troop D’s jurisdiction for 2024. Assisting at the scene were CPL. K. L. Knight and TPR. C. L. Blue.
