Festus, MO (January 8, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 55, just north of US 61, at approximately 3:10 PM on Tuesday afternoon. Emergency responders, including the Joachim Plattin Ambulance District, were dispatched to the scene to assist those involved.
The accident involved a 2005 Chevrolet HHR and a 2025 Freightliner Cascadia, both traveling northbound on I-55. According to reports, the driver of the Chevrolet lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid and slide. The Freightliner’s front end subsequently struck the right side of the Chevrolet. The Chevrolet sustained extensive damage and was removed by Miner’s Towing, while the Freightliner suffered minor damage and was driven from the scene.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 55-year-old male from Festus, MO, sustained moderate injuries. He was transported to Mercy Hospital Jefferson for further treatment. The Freightliner driver, a 38-year-old male from Olive Branch, MS, was uninjured and remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities.
