Fannin County, TX (November 12, 2024) — A devastating head-on collision occurred on Monday just before 1:00 PM in the 1200 block of FM 272 near Leonard, Texas. The crash involved two vehicles traveling in opposite directions, resulting in three individuals being seriously injured.
First responders from the Leonard Fire Department were dispatched to the scene, where they worked to extricate all three occupants from the wreckage. The collision involved two women and one man, and the intensity of the impact required extensive efforts to provide aid and stabilize the victims.
According to Leonard Fire Department Assistant Chief Tyler McCarley, one victim sustained life-threatening injuries, while the other two were reported to have non-life-threatening injuries. Due to the severity of the incident, three medical helicopters from Paris, Greenville, and Ardmore were called in to airlift the injured parties to nearby hospitals for treatment. The road was blocked for approximately two hours as emergency crews managed the scene.
