According to witnesses, 58-year-old Christopher Tanner of Falls of Rough was standing in the southbound lane of KY 79 while assisting with a truck pulling a camper up an icy driveway. Tanner, who was wearing a reflective safety vest, was waving a flashlight toward northbound traffic when the incident occurred.
A 2003 Honda Civic, driven by 36-year-old Michael Biskup of Falls of Rough, was traveling southbound and reportedly did not see Tanner in the roadway. The vehicle struck Tanner from behind, causing him to be thrown over the hood, into the windshield, and onto the roof, where the back glass shattered. Tanner was then thrown onto the roadway in front of the car.
Tanner sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby airport, where he was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital. His condition remains critical. Authorities are awaiting toxicology results, and no charges have been filed at this time.
Our thoughts are with Christopher Tanner and his loved ones during this difficult time.
