Fairfax, VA (December 6, 2024) – A 14-year-old boy tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a busy road in Burke. The incident occurred on Wednesday, December 4, at approximately 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Old Keene Mill Road and Sydenstricker Road.
According to the Fairfax County Police Department, the teen was crossing Old Keene Mill Road when he stepped into the westbound lanes and was hit by a Ford Fusion traveling in that direction. Emergency responders transported the boy to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the Ford Fusion remained on the scene, and authorities have stated that neither speed nor alcohol appear to have contributed to the accident.
